Smitty gambles and wins $75.

August 7, 1876 Monday

Smitty picks up his lightning gun, fully charges and pays $12.

Beau, John and Smitty head to Sturgis. Arrive at Sturgis after dark.

Gavri’el picks up his armor and shops with his follower.

August 8, 1876 Tuesday

Beau tries to get info on the 3 bounties.

John works on magic item.

Smitty gambles, wins $20.

Gavri’el looks for the posse, doesn’t find them. Continues to educate his follower.

August 9, 1876 Wednesday

Pinkerton agents arrive in Sturgis.

John works on magic item.

Beau looks for information on the 3 bounties.

Smitty games and wins $30.

Gavri’el looks for posse in Deadwood. Still doesn’t find them. Continues to educate his follower. Has follower start working on enchanting his sword with shocking burst.

August 10, 1876 Thursday

John works on magic item.

Beau looks for information on the 3 bounties.

Pinkerton agents arrive in Deadwood. They go to see the town marshal, then carry contents of their wagon into the hotel. Gavri’el is suspicious of them and tries to find out what they’re up to without success.

August 11, 1876 Friday

John works on magic item.

Beau looks for information on the 3 bounties.

Smitty gambles and wins $20.

Gavri’el’s follower finishes enchanting his sword.

August 12, 1876 Saturday

John works on magic item.

Beau looks for information on the 3 bounties.

Smitty gambles and loses $10. He also tries to get information on the 3 bounties.

Gavri’el visits the church and introduces his follower to the preacher.

August 13, 1876 Sunday

John works on magic item.

Beau and Smitty look for information on the 3 bounties.

Gavri’el prays to God to find the posse. Is told to go to Sturgis. He teleports himself, his follower and their horses to just outside Sturgis.

Scares a few travelers when he arrives, who flee toward Sturgis upon seeing their group show up.

August 14 – 15, 1876

John works on magic item.

Beau and Smitty look for information on the 3 bounties.

Gavri’el catches up with the posse in Sturgis.

August 16, 1876 Wednesday
Posse travels to Rapid City.

August 17, 1876 Thursday

Arrive in Rapid City at 12 noon.

Smitty visits the Elven female wizard, Iellwen Aldadel.

Patrick and Ashton get 3 fate points.

A Bounty Hunting we will go at High Noon

August 5th, 1876 – Afternoon

Beau and John head to Michael Webb’s hang out. Are told that Michael is probably at his claim by using Fast Talk to trick one of Michael’s friends into revealing his location.

John creates two Phantom Steed and casts Mage Armor on himself and Beau from two wands he has previously created.

Beau and John head east from Deadwood toward where they have been told is the location of Michael’s claim. After a few miles, they come across a well defined almost road like trail.

After searching for about 2 1/2 hours, they find the location of the claim. Surprising Michael, John captures him with his lasso after only slight resistance from Michael, with assistance from Beau.

Beau and John head back to Deadwood with Michael in tow. Around 8 P.M. they arrive back in town and head to the sheriff’s. A deputy puts Michael into a cell and tells them to return tomorrow to get paid.

Smitty has a bad day gambling and looses money.

Gavri’el and Banla spend the day discussing the knowledge of dragons that both he and Banla have learned from the dragon book.

Beau and John head to the bar after the visit to the sheriff’s.

John spends time in the bar making two scrolls. He fumbles when making one, but is successful with making the second one.

August 6, 1876

Beau and John head to the sheriff’s office in the morning and get paid.

John tells Beau he has an errand to run. Then heads to Lucky Pete’s mine and buys 2 pounds of Ghost Rock from the Goblins. Tries to see the Cave Troll, but the Troll isn’t around at that moment.

The posse decides they need to head to Sturgis to handle those bounties.

John spends the rest of the day working on magic items.

Let's Go Shopping at High Noon

August 4, 1876

Smitty goes to visit weird scientist, Tomas Hodges, who is a new resident in Deadwood to find out about his lightning gun.

Gavri’el goes to the church, sees if the priest is there, then checks to see if any windows display graven images.

Garvi’el goes to visit Deputy Swift. Asks about the Nicole Fouquet mine. Is told no new bosses have shown up yet.

Gavri’el goes to saloon, orders a goat’s milk. A fallen dove approaches him and asks if she can join him. Gavri’el preaches to her.

Gavri’el visits sheriff office again. His new follower, Banla Greypriest, shows up and joins him. Goes to a saloon to fill in Banla Greypriest on his adventures.

John and Beau try to learn more about the bounties but have no luck.

August 5, 1876

Gavri’el gives the dragon lore book to his Banla Greypriest.

John and Beau research the wanted posters. Find out where the crimes were committed.

Beau and Smitty are in the Nutall & Mann’s salooen when Wild Bill shows up looking for Jack McCall.

Beau goes to the sheriff’s office to report Wild Bill’s appearance to Deputy Swift, but only the sheriff is there. When Beau tells the sheriff about Wild Bill, the sheriff said, “Oh!” and closed and locked the door to the office.

Beau finally finds out where one of the bounties, Michael Webb hangs out and who his friends are and where he lives.

Making Magic at High Noon

August 2nd, 1876

John makes a wand (Phantom Steed), sells his horse and goes out into the woods to pick up pieces of Oak wood and other pieces of wood.

Gavri`el prays to God to find a way to improve his sword’s enchantment and looks for books about creatures from the Fey realm. Finds a few books, buys a book on Elven history, Goblin history and an Elven book on Dragon Lore.

Marshall Wild Bill Hickok is shot dead at 10 A.M. in the Nuttall & Mann’s Saloon by Jack McCall.

August 3rd, 1876

Wild Bill is buried by Charley Utter on Boot Hill. Calamity Jane insists that he have a proper grave built. A 10′×10′ enclosure is built around his bruial plot encircled by a 3’ fence with fancy cast iron filigree on top. A small American flag is stuck into the ground in front of the tombstone in honor of his service in the War.
Charley Utter places a wooden marker on the grave with the following inscription.

John teleports to the Goblin mine entrance, finds one of the miners, asks if he can speak to Urukgar. Makes a deal with Urukgar to buy/trade Ghost Rock for money or magic item creation.

Mike Martinez and Patrick Little were present for the game and earned 3 fate points.

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 6
To Kill A Papa Mamba

July 31, 1876 – Early Morning

The posse heads down the stairs and heads into the south tunnel after Papa Mamba.

Coming to a side passage, Beau and Gavri’el look for tracks, Gavri’el determines that the latest tracks head south.

The posse follows the tracks for 320 feet. A tunnel heads off to the right and also straight ahead, 5 tracks head to the right and 5 go straight ahead.

Smitty and Gavri’el head straight, while John and Beau head to the right.

After 60 feet, Smitty notices a light ahead so Gavri’el sheaths his sword. After walking another 30 feet someone starts shooting at them.

Gavri’el gets shot multiple times. Casts a bolt of lightning at one of the overseers.

Smitty gets shot in the leg, falls down then casts invisibility.

Gavri’el shoots 1 of the overseers, killing him, then retreats. Smitty crawls back down the tunnel.

Gavri’el heals himself.

John and Beau having heard the shots, head back to where the tunnel splits and meet back up with Gavri’el.

While discussing what they should do about the men down the straight tunnel, John hears in his head, “Papa Mamba means to escape!” John asks what way and the voice tells him that he and Beau where heading in the right direction. John asks him who are you? The voice says, “An ally.”

John heads off after Papa Mamba, Beau follows.

Gavri’el retrieves Smitty, heals him and then flies after John and Beau.

John runs through the Warsaw Chamber, stopping at the entrance of the Pitsudski Chamber, seeing Papa Mamba on the stairs, shoots him in the leg and the chest. Beau arrives a second or so later and shoots Papa Mamba in the abdomen.

Two of the overseers start to tend to Papa Mamba. The zombies continue to walk up the stairs.

John shoots one of the overseers, hits him in the chest and takes him down.

Beau shoots at one of the other overseers tending to Papa Mamba and misses.

John shoots at one of the overseers, hitting him in the left arm.

Gavri’el and Smitty arrive at the entrance.

Beau shoots at one of the overseers tending to Papa Mamba and hits him in the arm.

Smitty shoots at one of the acolytes at the bottom of the stairs which are rushing the party and misses.

Gavri’el begins to fly up toward where Papa Mamba is laying.

Beau shoots at the same overseer, hits him in the head and kills him.

Smitty shoots at an acolyte, hits him in the abdomen, but the acolyte keeps coming.

An overseer begins to shoot at Gavri’el as he flies up.

Beau shoots at the overseer shooting at Gavri’el and hits him in the leg. The overseer falls down.

Gavri’el continues to fly up to where Papa Mamba is laying on the stairs.

Beau shoots at an overseer tending to Papa Mamba hits him in the right leg.

Smitty shoots the same acolyte and hits him in the right arm.

John shoots at one of the acolytes rushing the posse, hits him in the abdomen, he drops.

Gavri’el casts a lightning bolt at Papa Mamba.

Beau hits the same overseer in the leg, blowing the leg off.

John shoots at the other acolyte, missing him.

An acolyte hits Smitty in his right arm.

Beau shoots the acolyte on Smitty, hits the acolyte in the right leg causing him to fall down.

Gavri’el stabs Papa Mamba in the abdomen.

Gavri’el stabs the injured overseer in the leg.

Gavri’el captures two of the acolytes.

Gavri’el kills one of the two acolytes.

The posse takes the other acolyte and makes him carry Papa Mamba.

The posse heads back to the mine elevator and manages to exit the mine before day break, heads back toward Deadwood.

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 5
The Top of the Stairs

Beau and John head for the stairs, Gavri’el heads for the 20 zombies coming from the south entrance, while Smitty does a deal with a demon to cast a spell.

Gavri’el begins to fight the zombies. He kills one with a head shot.

Beau shoots 1 in the head.

Smitty casts a fireball and hits 10 of the zombies.

John heads for the top of the stairs, with Beau and Smitty following behind.

The zombies damage Gavri’el greatly. Gavri’el flies into the air and heals himself. Then goes back into the flight.

After reloading with their rock salt ammo the posse attacks the zombies from the stairs using the height advantage to dispatch the rest of the zombies.

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 4
Guarding the Bridge

July 29th, 1876

Mr. Smith and Smitty stand guard at the bridge in the water cave, where they had found Mr. Smith.

The posse continued deeper into the mine, through the Michalowice Chamber.

Beau and John continue down the Rarancza Traverse. Looking down into the Saurau Chamber, seeing some zombies and overseers below.

Beau & John shoot the overseers. Each of them hits a separate overseer in the left arm. Then shoot at the other two overseers. Those still standing head toward the exits of the cave on opposite walls. Beau and John continue to shoot. The first overseer ends up being shot dead, two others get shot in the leg, and one escapes out of the cave through the far opening.

Gavri’el chases the overseer who is sounding an alarm. He casts a silence spell, then attacks the overseer, cutting his arm off, then Gavri’el kills the overseer.

Beau and John get to the bottom of the stairs as Gavri’el returns to the cave.

John asks the remaining overseers, “Where is Papa Mamba?” in creole.

Both overseers continue to crawl.

Beau steps on the back of one.

Gavri’el casts zone of truth.

One continues to crawl, the one Beau is stepping on says, “I don’t know where Papa Mamba is.”

The posse asks the overseers about Papa Mamba. Gavri’el takes the chicken feet from the two overseers.

After they finish questioning the overseers, 1 zombie attacks the overseers and kills them.

After searching the area, the voice of Papa Mamba speaks from the darkened opening of the south tunnel, “Arise my minions and slay the interlopers!”

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 3
Meet Mr. Smith

Beau finds a box with chicken’s feet on strings in it in the room at the bottom of the elevator shaft. He takes 4 with him.

Smitty calls out down the mine tunnel, “Hello there!”

The posse moves down the tunnel, leaving John to guard the elevator as well. 40 feet down the tunnel the posse sees light ahead.

Gavri-el takes 3 of the lanterns which line the tunnel.

The posse finds the Copernicus Chamber, which has lit lanterns in it.

The posse continues deeper into the mine, through the Janowice Chamber into a Loa Chapel.

The cavern is an obvious temple to the Voodoo Loa spirits. The posse takes the sacrificial knife from the altar.

The posse continues through the Spalone and Sielec Chambers.

The posse finds the opening to the lower levels which is beside a wooden bridge that continues on. Continue forward to the Casimir the Great Chamber. Beau starts marking their progress on the wall with his knife.

Return to the opening that leads down and begin to descend the stairway. The posse proceeds to the bottom of the stair with no difficulties. At the bottom the posse enters an obviously downward sloping tunnel.

The posse passes through two other chambers while following the downward sloping tunnel, the posse begins to hear talking and mining sounds from ahead. The tunnel finally ends at a huge chamber.

The opening to the chamber they have just reached is in the wall near the ceiling of the chamber. A number of scaffolds line the walls of the chamber from floor to ceiling. A total of 10 zombies can be seen mining in the chamber.

3 human miners can be seen supervising the zombies toward the center of the room. The posse can hear the voices of the miners, but other than telling they are Cajun, they cannot make out what is being said.

The posse discusses how to deal with the miners and zombies. The plan is to have Gavri-el cast silence on himself, cast invisibility on himself and then fly down to the miners. Beau and Smitty will aim with the rifles to attack right after Gavri-el become visible having attacked one of the miners.

Gavri-el attacks the miners and misses. Beau and Smitty fire and also miss.

Gavri-el begins to fight with the miners, and Beau and Smitty notice that 3 zombies have stopped mining and are headed toward where Gavri-el is fighting. Beau begins to quickly descend the stairs, ignoring the fact that he could trip and fall down the entire length.

Gavri-el manages to kill the 3 Cajuns just as the 3 zombies approach to attack.

Beau, Gavri-el and Smitty damage the zombies that have been attacking Gavri-el. They manage to kill those 3. Beau notices that the zombies seemed to ignore him so he gives a chicken foot necklace to both Gavri-el and Smitty.

The posse destroys the rest of the zombies in the chamber.

The posse then travels down the tunnel that exits the chamber, into yet another large chamber. This one has deep pool of water at the bottom, with a bridge spanning the pool from one opening to another on the far wall. There is a cage next to the bridge with a human in it.

Beau attempts to pick the lock and fails. Gavri-el shoots the lock and after the second shot, manages to open the lock.

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 2
Decending into Papa Mamba's Realm

The posse questions Nicole in the shack about Papa Mamba, who they work for and if they are using zombies.

Gavri-el and Smitty go to talk with Deputy Swift about whether Nicole would be guilty of anything.

The posse decides to take Nicole to Deadwood and turn her over to the deputy.

As the party gets close to Deadwood, she begins to squirm and make noises through the gag.

Deputy Swift calls Nicole, Queen Laveau, and locks her up in the jail. The posse warns him to be careful around her and he lets them know that he can handle her.

The posse stakes out the Sheriff’s office to see if Papa Mamba will come to Deadwood to free her. Nothing happens that night.

July 29, 1876 – Saturday

The posse decides to head back to the mine at night, so spends the day in Deadwood. Nothing much happens in the town. After night fall, the posse heads to the mine.

Gavri-el scouts the entire camp.

Around 9:00 P.M. the posse heads to the main building of the mine. Once inside they decide how to descend into the shaft. The do not turn on the equipment that runs the elevator, being afraid of waking the miners in the camp outside.

The posse climbs down the shaft with various levels of success. John climbs down the shaft using the Spider Climb spell. Beau slips toward the bottom and takes 2 damage from the fall. Smitty also slips toward the bottom and takes 1 damage. Gavri-el also slips and takes 1 damage.

The party begins to explore the mine in the following order, Gavri-el, Beau, John and Smitty. Jasper remains at the elevator to cover the posses retreat.

Hunting Papa Mamba at High Noon, Part 1
Enter Nicole Fouquet

Beau buys rocksalt shotgun shells.

Posse heads to Lucky Pete’s mine. Searches the mine for Voodoo cultists, but after searching the area where Papa Mamba had occupied earlier, finds nothing but the remains of destroyed zombies and cultists.

Search through the Goblin section of the mine and begin talks with a Goblin who claims to be the mine owner. Eventually the posse realize they are being lied to and manage to get the real mine owner to talk with them. Urukgar tells them that Papa Mamba is not in the mine anymore. Urukgar makes it known that he doesn’t like the posse.

July 28, 1876 – Friday

Head to Nicole’s mine, after about an hour and a half. The posse sees a total of 40 black miners above ground.

Gavri-el approaches one of the miners and asks about Nicole.

Judas Parodis doesn’t tell Gavri-el much about Nicole.

The posse approaches the main house at the mine. Get’s let into the house to talk with Nicole. After she recognizes Gavri-el, he casts hold person on her. Beau ties her up and Gavri-el knocks her out.

Seeing that her mistress is under attack, the servant begins to run down the hall toward the back of the house screaming. Smitty chases her and punches her in the head, temporarily stopping her screaming.

Gavri-el casts invisibility on Nicole and carries her to his horse.

The rest of the posse flees through the front door while the servant runs out the back again screaming for help.

The posse rides to the abandoned shack where the encountered the Steampunk zombies.

Beau ties her hands. She attempts to cast blind on Gavri-el and he knocks her unconscious again, then they gag her as well.
